The design of the Musashi Ranzan Country Club is characterized by the integral unity of structure, function, and space. While the building is generally regarded as a work in which Amano moved away from the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright, it can also be seen as one in which he thoroughly digested the essential principles of Wright’s architecture and connected them to his own creative expression.
At present, the exterior appearance has changed significantly from its original form due to numerous extensions carried out after completion. Recently, however, based on a detailed investigation of the building’s renovation history, a conservation and restoration plan has been implemented in stages. Through this process, the clubhouse is being restored to its original state while maintaining its functionality as an active facility. It is also a valuable example illustrating the process of architectural conservation and restoration. Renovation work in 2014 with supervision by Mitsuru HIRAI (Meguro Architecture Laboratory Co., Ltd.).
