- In the dwelling area of Shinjuku in Tokyo, stand three cubic boxes gathering surrounding courtyard, which stems from the naming of this house. Mayumi Miyawaki, who had designed a series of cubic box houses to realize dwelling space in the dense area. This house was constructed in separating two stages, 1971 and 1978. Miyawaki planned to design the first stage in considering the image of next stage. The structure was composed by reinforced concrete and wooden frame, which was one of first and typical examples for composite structural house at that time.
