モダン・ムーブメントの歴史的・文化的重要性を認識し、その成果を記録するとともに、それにかかわる現存建物・環境の保存を訴えるために、
1988 年に設立された国際学術組織で、近代建築史研究者だけでなく、建築家、建築エンジニア、都市計画家、行政関係者などが参加している。
