On the women’s university campus in green-filled Musashino, Tokyo, an academic building complex comprised of dormitory, lecture rooms, gymnasium, library, official residences, chapel, and auditorium was built during the period from 1924 to 38. A variety of design styles were tried out, including the library and official residences with a strong Wrightian influence, the dormitory embracing the Czech Cubism, and the chapel and auditorium manifesting a reference to the design paradigm of August Perret’s Nortre Dame du Raincy. These buildings are significant representations of Antonin Raymond’s early works.
