- In the western suburb area of Tokyo, surrounding deep forest, stands a complex building for chapel and ossuary, designed by a professor architect Yoshiro Ikehara and Waseda University. He considered this architecture corresponding to natural elements, to organize architectural space with rich greenery, sun-shine and rustling wind. After 1970s in criticizing and separating mechanical aspects of modernism, the architect could propose the method in harmony with environment and nature. At the same time, he also tackled symbolic spatial expression themed “pray” as a forerunner example.
