A professor architect,Motoo Take designed a civic hall at Furukawa (now Ohsaki) near Sendai in Tohoku region 4 years after completing as same civic hall at Nagasaki in Kyushu region. Auditorium seating 1056 audiences and foyer space are composed by one rectangular shape under the roof of reinforced concrete shell hanging 41 meter length cable. Other facilities such office, dining and machinery rooms are also simple rectangular shape adding to the main building. The shape of four giant wall pillars supporting the shell roof might give us dynamic impression for structural elements, simultaneously, integrate between stage and auditorium space.
