A series of the facilities for launching the rockets and satellites, and observation at the Uchinoura, Kagoshima located in south of Kyushu Island had been constructed since 1961. Although the site is hilly land fronting the seashore, the architect, Kiyoshi Ikebe, who was a professor of Tokyo University, with cooperating other professors for engineering , tried to organize the each buildings to suit the purpose, function, materials, structure, and design to apply the modular system (GM module) which he himself investigated for many years.
