  • An architect, Osamu Ishiyama who designed this house, Gen-an as his debut work, is the first generation of so-called post-modernist, he tried to model this house after an unique house which was already constructed by architectural engineer, Kenji Kawai. Ishiyama collaged primitive materials and structure such as steel, glass and concrete using as the front façade, corrugated plate using for soil construction as the side façade, ceiling and floor. It could be interpreted as breaking rule of modern technology and overcome notion of modern architecture.
